General Questions

What should I do to prepare for anesthesia?

Preparation for anesthesia typically includes fasting from food and drink, adjusting current medications as directed, and arranging for post-procedure care. Detailed instructions will be provided before your surgery.

Is anesthesia safe?

Anesthesia is generally very safe; the risks depend on the complexity of the surgery, the type of anesthesia used, and the patient’s health condition. Our anesthesiologists are highly skilled in managing these risks.

Will I be in pain during or after the procedure?

We aim to minimize discomfort during and after surgery. Pain management will be discussed during your pre-operative assessment.

How long does it take to recover from anesthesia?

Recovery times can vary based on the type of anesthesia given and individual patient factors. We monitor patients closely to ensure a safe and comfortable recovery.

Can I drive home after receiving anesthesia?

Patients are not permitted to drive for at least 24 hours following anesthesia due to the effects on alertness and motor skills. Please arrange for transportation post-procedure.

Will my insurance cover anesthesia services?

Coverage can vary by insurance provider and plan. Please contact our billing company at (914) 509-1442 or refer to our insurance carriers page for accepted insurances.
